What upgrade should I get more ram or better processor?

Question by : What upgrade should I get more ram or better processor?
I am getting the Hp dv7t select edition
specs:

Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-560M Dual Core Processor (2.66 GHz, 3MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz
1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5650 switchable graphics [HDMI, VGA] – For Dual Core Processors
FREE Upgrade to 6GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
FREE Upgrade to 640GB 7200RPM Dual Hard Drive (320GB x 2) with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
Microsoft(R) Office Starter 2010
No additional security software
9 Cell Lithium Ion Battery (over-sized)
17.3″ diagonal HD+ High-Definition HP LED BrightView Widescreen Display (1600 x 900)
SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
HP TrueVision Webcam and Fingerprint Reader
Intel Wireless-N Card with Bluetooth
Standard Keyboard
HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope
$ 980

these are the specs i have it saved at but i am prepared to spend another $ 100
should i go for the 8 gb ram or the i7 720
i was leaning more toward the 8gb ram because the i7 720 doesnt seem like it would give me much of a performance boost
i plan on using it for school, gaming like crysis, and internet surfing a lot
so the more the advanced the better

another thing: i also want this to last me for atleast 4 years so i am also concerned about heat output and it decreasing the laptop lifetime
im getting the 9-cell battery to aid in air circulation but to what extent that will help i dont know
i heard the i7 will fry my laptop within 2 years

so will the i7 increase the heat drastically compared to the i5?

i only want the i7 is it gives a signnificant performance increase and not as much heat increase

which would help me the most the 2 extra gb of ram or the 2 extra cores?

.
Can you guys also comment on the heat produced by the i7 and how significantly this effects battery life and overall lifetime of the laptop aswell

I suspect you will feel the extra RAM more than the extra processor. All the i5 and i7 series processors with multi-core are so much faster than the older computers that you’ll be happy for years with it.

going from 6 ro 8 GB of ram will make no noticeable difference at all.

the i7 is noticeable faster although still not a huge deal
If you can spend more on the vid card thats probably the best bet.

the extra 2 GB of ram in all honestly probably will not get used, to use more than 6 you have to be doing alot of heavy stuff. Where as the extra cores will get used alot of the time.

    the i5 scored 2,429
the i7 scored 3,257 , but how much of a real difference that makes is debatable

i would go with the processor since windows doesn’t efficiently use RAM
