What information should i have if my two week old daughter is deaf?

Question by Holly: What information should i have if my two week old daughter is deaf?
My daughter is two weeks old. She failed the hearing test at the hospital and also failed another hearing test with an audiologist. I am waiting to see a specialist for another test, but I do have a deaf aunt. I would like to know what steps I should take now and after I find out that it is definite that she is deaf.

1. Find out if she is definitely deaf (see a specialist)
2. So if she is, learn Sign Language (books, professionals look it up)
3. Treat as much attention to her and all your other kids and I am sure she will be as happy as anyone else with just some lurv 😉

Good Luck ^.^ X

  1. Wo ist der Flughafen? says:

Start learning baby sign language: http://www.babies-and-sign-language.com/deaf-baby-infant-child-children-signing-asl.html

Also, speak with your pediatrician to find out about groups, education and other recommendations he/she might have about meeting the challenge of raising a deaf child.
