Included in this purchase are one pair of electronic hearing protectors which slip into one of four pairs of ear plug sleeves (two sets of large ear plugs and one set of small ear plugs; one set of plugs is black and the other set is bright orange). Additionally, there were eight batteries, a carrying case, instructions, a cleaning brush, and a box to put it all in.

The SoundGear hearing protection works very well for me when using the large ear plugs. The smaller ear plugs go too deep into my ear and do not block the noise as well as the larger pair. (Naturally, people with smaller ear canals will have the opposite experience.) The electronics work very well; there is little sound from firearm fire and normal speech is amplified slightly. The only down-side is that my speech is also amplified and it’s a little too loud, so I keep quiet unless it’s necessary for me to speak. 😉

I use these regularly at the local trap range. They produce excellent sound quality for all sounds in the normal range, then reduce the volume of anything above 25db. Using them is kind-of like watching action movies on TV. Speech and normal noises can be heard normally, and you can still hear loud noises like gun shots, etc… but they don’t leave your ears ringing. Pretty cool.

They are also very small and discreet. No one will know you are wearing high tech ear plugs because they look like normal ear plugs. They come in a handy case with 8 extra batteries (each ear uses one), and multiple sets of ear plug covers that allow you to adjust the size to fit your ear. Each size also comes in orange and black.

They are expensive. I needed something to give me an extra edge hearing where I’m hunting. More importantly I needed something to stop the blast of my gun when I touch it off. These worked 100%! I definitely recommend them for hunting.
