    UPDATE: 6/7/11
    I changed my star rating from 1 to 4
    After I wrote this review, I purchased a year’s worth of hearing aid batteries that contained mercury. I knew the day was coming when I’d have no choice but to purchase mercury free hearing aid batteries. After my last ‘mercury’ battery was used, I had to purchase mercury free. Imagine my surprise when I decided to try RayOVacs mercury free batteries again and they lasted 7 days for me which is the same as the batteries that contain mercury. They claim to be improved. I purchased these Rayovac Size 312 Mercury Free Hearing Aid Battery, 24-Count Package. I notice that some reviewers had a different experience than I did. I’ve been using these batteries for a month now; each one lasted a week plus a few hours.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I had a choice between Duracell Zinc Air batteries and Rayovac mercury-free batteries. I’ve never had a problem with Rayovac hearing aid batteries in the past, and their zinc air batteries lasted a tad longer than the other brands I’ve used. So, wanting to be more helpful to the environment, I chose Rayovac’s mercury-free hearing aid batteries, & I’m sorry I did. My hearing aids start beeping after 3 1/2 days. Normally, I get an avg. 6 days use before the beeping begins. I decided not to change the Rayovac mercury-free batteries until my hearing aids went dead. Can you imagine, they lasted another 2-3 days before the battery finally died. That’s a lot of beeping to put up with, but at least I saved some money while being tortured by the beeping for that time period. I will not purchase these again. Unfortunately, I have 20 left…maybe I’ll make this my back-up supply. Yep, I’m going to chalk this up to experience…just don’t think I can stand the periodic beeping for 10 more weeks.
    I’m going to call Rayovac with my findings. These batteries definitely need to be improved.
    I’ve found this product lasts a lot longer than the “Power One” that I receive compliments of the Hearing doctor.
    He suggested that the batteries should last a week and these typically last 2 weeks (+). However, I did not buy these in bulk. The single package was purchased from a pharmacy.
    Purchased these batteries trying to be enviromentally friendly but it just didn’t work out. The batteries give up three days earlier than the batteries that I have used previously. (and cost more) I will not purchase this type of battery again. Batteries are packaged well and easy to use but just don’t last well.
