   I suffer from moderate-severe neurological hearing loss and have found the Williams Sound (WS) amplifier extremely useful. My only regret is that I did not find out about this option before I bought a $3500.set of hearing aids. The hearing aids now sit in the drawer, and I use the WS amplifier for everything: – work (I am a teacher), conversation (put the amplifier on the table I can hear even in noisy places), and listening to TV (use the extension cord).
   The earphone (mono) that comes with the system works very well, but does not withstand rough handling. After the earphone broke, I sent mine in and it was replaced without any fuss. I have used an abandoned student (stereo)earphone; find out which side works, cut the other off and it works!
   The 3.5 mm input plug to my Ultra started giving me trouble, I sent it in, it was fixed promptly (as I find it difficult to live without a unit I bought the Pro.) Now I own two,- I think I prefer the Pro mainly because it seem more durable. I have also experimented with other ear plugs. After I misplaced the microphone I simply took the 3.5 mm microphone out of my computer and it worked nearly as well as the one that the unit came with. I still intend to experiment with other microphones. In short the WS unit is a hearing aid for less than a tenth of the price;- plus the enormous benefit of being able to but the microphone next to the source of the sound. Hearing aids try to hide the disability; I am far more comfortable being open about it. Now all I would like to, is give back those hearing aids and also get the FM system; it would be great to teach with!

   Fabulous product! My 85 yr old mother uses a hearing aid, but likes this much better! She hears crystal-clear. Great for going to the doctor, talking in the car, and visiting with friends. Everyone wants to know where we got it. Greatly recommended.
