Is there free hearing devices for the hearing impaired? And which state?

Question by ADMIRAL 0125: Is there free hearing devices for the hearing impaired? And which state?
I’m almost deaf. I use two hearing aids. My husband is hard of hearing. He will not consider any devices b/c we can’t afford luxury items. Is there an organization who helps people with hearing impairments? We live in No. California.

I don’t know about CA, but try United Way, Easter Seals, and if you have one, Knights of Columbus. If you are near a major hospital, call an ENT and maybe they can refer you to an organization who will help.

The Starkey Foundation can provide free or extremely low cost hearing aids. http://www.sotheworldmayhear.org/home/index.php

Miracle Ear has a program for children but might also have some adult help. http://www.hearingplanet.com

Also, check with the Sertoma Club or Lion’s Club in your area.

Also, ask you doctor for help with this. Hearing aids are not considered luxury items and may be covered by insurance.

There is a group called Hope for Hearing in California that has a used hearing aid bank. http://www.hope4hearing.org
