If I get hearing aids, will they help with tinnitus (ringing in the ear)?

Question by Anonymous: If I get hearing aids, will they help with tinnitus (ringing in the ear)?
I’m nervous about wearing hearing aids because I am a young adult but I have had horrible tinnitus for 3 years now and chances are it may never get better so I am wondering if the hearing aids will make it better if I get them or will they just amplify the environment but not necessarily help with the tinnitus? What about tinnitus maskers? Any advice please.
