are you referring to chochlear implant? if it is what you are thinking, depends on 2 major factors:

1. your current hearing status

2. age

People benfits the most with the implant are children with severe hearing loss, you need to find that out by a thorough audiology evaluation with a audiologist

implants are most beneficial to children because their cranial nerve 8 is still plastic, while adult neurons no longer can alter no matter what you do (at least to our current clinical technology) if you have severe hearing loss for many years, your nerve already atrophic and even with the implants, the benefits are minimum.

I suggest you to seek a audiologist for a full evaluation and consult him/her for the idea of implants

  1. ZCT says:

If you have even 10-15% hearing you would probably be better served by a regular hearing aid as opposed to a cochlea implant. An implant does not deliver natural hearing in the way a normal person hears, it allows a profoundly deaf person to experience some sound to help them lip read.

If you are profoundly deaf, go see an ENT specialist, not an audiologist. He will do the necessary tests to see if it would help you.

If you are very hard of hearing then you need to get a regular hearing test from a hearing specialist / audiologist of some kind. They will determine if there is any medical treatment for your loss, or talk to you about hearing aids.
